As soon as I saw the title of this weeks’ Daily Post challenge, I thought of this picture. These two iconic women happen to be my Mother and her best friend. They passed within 6 months of each other after 70 years as friends. Yes 70 years. They met in nursing school as young woman and stayed close all of the years. Friendship is a precious gift. Friends that have weathered a few storms together are particularly dear and sweet. My best friend and I are going on 30 years, without living in the same city for the last 27 years. I am grateful for the internet and texting and friendship.
“There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.” ― Linda Grayson
“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” ― Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” ― Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Road to Daybreak: A Spiritual Journey

This is beautiful….. 70 years, 30 is an accomplishment. Friendship is designed to be designated to few and when those few fit that design they will be dedicated!!!! [AmazinglyBrash] Love to see people appreciate togetherness!!!!
