the family Saxifragaceae

A little flower parade today! Years ago my Mom wanted a plant for next to the red shed that could be seen from the living room. She choose a lovely red astible. It grew poorly and when it flowered it was the same color as the wall behind it so you could not even see it. Last fall in my hosta, fern planting madness, I also transplanted the astilbe to different spots. It loves the new locations in the shade. The leaf branches are low growing and outstretching. The flowers are these straight fall feathers of color. It is also apparently called goats-beard and false spirea. The family genus is  Saxifragaceae– do you love that name.
